How is oil obtained?

Oil is pressed from walnut copra , the white part from which shavings are usually made . As in every case, we can choose refined oil , which is sometimes bleached and devoid of a significant part of nutrients , or unrefined oil, the so -called Extra virgin , which contains a full range of vitamins and minerals . If you expect care effects , you should definitely use cold - pressed oil , i.e. extra virgin . When it is cold , the oil changes consistency and behaves like butter . At a warm temperature or under the influence of your body heat, the oil melts and turns into a fragrant , colorless liquid .

Properties of coconut oil.

Unrefined coconut oil smells wonderful, but the biggest enthusiasm is aroused by the fact that it is rich in lauric acid and caprylic acid, and these compounds have antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral effects. In fact, coconut oil seems to be a dream skincare product for oily skin, full of surprises that we want to pacify instead of spreading all over our face. You will also find a lot of vitamins in it , such as E, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, folic acid, zinc, potassium, iron and linoleic acid . The small molecules that coconut oil is made of make it absorbable through the epidermis.

Why remove makeup with coconut oil?

Supporters of this method base themselves on the assumption that like attracts like and recommend this type of make-up removal especially to people with skin that naturally secretes a lot of sebum . The idea of this method is that coconut oil will combine with our own fat and dissolve all the colour cosmetics that we have on our skin , even waterproof mascara . Thanks to its consistency , it will not destroy the skin's hydrolipid coat . Nissiax83 praises its speed of action and the fact that it does not irritate the skin . Red Lipstick Monster likes the way coconut oil removes waterproof cosmetics without the slightest problem and leaves her face moisturized . Other bloggers also praise the use of coconut oil to remove eye make -up , it supposedly strengthens the eyelashes and moisturizes delicate skin . What are their methods for removing make-up with coconut oil ?

Makeup removal with coconut oil – how?

  1. Apply a small amount of coconut oil in the form of a cream to a cotton pad , apply to the skin, massage gently and wipe the oil from the face with the cotton pad . Cleanse the skin until it is clean. Finally, apply a gel or soap suitable for our skin type. Rinse the face with water .
  2. RLM advises to use one part micellar fluid and one part coconut oil to remove eye makeup . Mix it on a cotton pad and use to remove makeup from eyelashes and around the eyes .
  3. You can also melt the oil in your hands and massage your face with your fingers until the makeup is completely dissolved . Now, use a cotton pad to collect the oil along with the color cosmetics and impurities from the day . Finally , apply your favorite facial toner .

What do the experts say about this ?

It is certainly true that oil removes sebum at lightning speed (we tested it on ourselves!). However, not everyone agrees with the beneficial effects of coconut oil on the skin. Many people we interviewed notice dryness, clogged pores , and after prolonged use, skin irritation. Allow us to quote:
"Coconut oil is drying. So much so that it can even cause wrinkles after prolonged and frequent use. It is a heavy oil to use on the face and can cause breakouts and even irritation in delicate areas (eyes, lips)."
And although the entire article is mainly about oiling your hair, we strongly encourage you to read it. Every now and then, Gazeta Wyborcza deals with the myth of the miraculous effects of coconut oil in its columns . Skin coach Bożena Społowicz openly criticizes the use of coconut oil in any form on the face , saying that it will exacerbate acne , dry out the complexion and accelerate skin aging . She tells the newspaper about coconut oils . It also seems that her opinion is shared by dermatologist Dr. Ewa Chlebus .
"There are two direct mechanisms of the negative effects of oils on the skin. The first is clogging of the openings of hair follicles. Thick oil sticks to the stratum corneum of the epidermis, gets into the follicle and clogs it, creating inflammation around it. It is the same mechanism as in the formation of acne. Pimples, lumps appear, and sometimes itching occurs."
Coconut oil used in make-up removal alone is also problematic , because it is not emulsified in any way . On our face , it will actually combine with fats, but we must remember that the skin structure is hydrolipidic. This means that the face should be washed and moisturized , remembering about both layers - water and fat . That is why we do not use oils alone , just as we do not use humectants alone , and instead of coconut oil for make - up removal , it is better to use cleansing oils in a special mixture or milks that will satisfy both dry and oily skin .
