Hairing, what is it?
Hairing and hair mania are popular topics that have recently appeared on many forums and blogs. If you still don't know what hairing is andhow to care for your hair according to its assumptions, we hasten to explain. In the past, the word hairing was associated with a hair sauna. A procedure that involves putting on a cap, which, combined with heat and conditioner or mask, has a beneficial effect on the condition of the hair. Currently, the term hairing refers to conscious hair care. The originator of this "definition" is Agnieszka Niedziałek , a hair maniac, author of the blog WWWLOSY.PL and a YouTuber. In practice, hairing means conscious selection of cosmetics, proper washing and drying of hair, using hair lotions, oiling and taking care of maintaining PEH balance, which I will discuss in a moment. The benefits of hair styling, or why it is worth taking care of your hair consciously
Hair care is not only about a beautiful hairstyle, but also about care in the spirit of less waste. By using well-chosen cosmetics, you will reduce the number of products you buy and the packaging that remains after them. By choosing only what your hair really needs, you will save money and the environment. You will also gain more time, because in the drugstore you will reach for products from the right shelf, without reading all the labels and wondering whether your hair is dry or brittle.

Hair care: where to start with conscious care?
Conscious hair care is, above all, the right choice of cosmetics and treatments, adapted to their needs. Therefore, it is best to start your hair care adventure by determining the type and porosity of your hair.Hair types and their properties
The division of hairdressing guru Andre Walker will be useful. The hair stylist distinguished four types of hair: straight, wavy, curly and knotted - for the needs of home hair styling, this will be enough. Curly and knotted hair is more capricious and demanding. It tends to dry out, break and frizz. However, its undoubted advantage is that it is easy to style and, yes, it is hard to weigh it down. Straight and wavy hair looks healthier and often is. This is due to porosity, but more on that in a moment. Straight and wavy hairstyles are smoother, do not frizz, but they are easily electrified. The downside of this type of hair is also more frequent split ends and susceptibility to weight down. What is hair porosity and how to check it?
Hair porosity is the degree to which the scales on the surface of the hair are open and is one of the most important elements of conscious care, or hair styling. There are three types of porosity: high, medium and low. Curly and knotted hair usually has high porosity, while wavy and straight hair has low porosity. However, invasive treatments such as perms or bleaching, as well as daily care, can affect the structure and porosity of the hair. Therefore, to be sure, you can do a simple porosity test. Throw a hair into a glass of water. If it sinks quickly, your hair is high porosity, if not, your hair is low porosity, and if the hair floats halfway down the glass, you have medium porosity hair.
High, medium and low porosity hair - the most important features
Hair porosity affects its condition and appearance. Highly porous hair is susceptible to moisture and temperature changes, which is why it frizzes more often. It is also more susceptible to mechanical damage and harmful external factors such as UV radiation. Highly porous hair is therefore demanding, and its condition is often caused by treatments such as dyeing and lightening. Its opposite is medium porosity hair, because this type of porosity corresponds to the natural structure of the hair. Therefore, high porosity hair is often hairstyles after appropriate treatments, reducing or increasing porosity. The last type of hair is characterized by low porosity, which in the hair structure is manifested by scales tightly adhering to the cortex, and in care - the need to limit cosmetics and treatments. Highly porous hair is easy to "over-groom", which causes the hairstyle to lose elasticity, shine and volume. Now that you know what your hair type and its porosity is - it's time to learn the most important rules of hair styling.PEH balance and hair. Table and its meaning
PEH balance is an abbreviation for the three pillars of hair care. They include: Proteins, Emollients and Humectants. It is also a key word that opens the door to effective hair care. Maintaining PEH balance is crucial when choosing masks and conditioners. Each of the pillars of conscious care is responsible for a different aspect of the condition and appearance of the hair. And so proteins are the building blocks of hair. Thanks to their content, hair is shiny, elastic and strong. A lack of proteins makes the hair dull and flat. In turn, a deficiency is responsible for tangled, frizzy hair. Emollients are the hair sheath. They protect it from external factors, giving it softness. The main source of emollients are hair conditioners - each of them has some in its composition. Too much emollient weighs down the hair, and a deficiency contributes to its dryness and brittleness. The last on the list, humectants, are ingredients that moisturize the hair. This may be new to you, so we suggest. Humectants in hair products are most often glycerin, honey, sugar and urea. The table below shows how and to what extent an excess or deficiency of any of the letters PEH affects individual hair characteristics. When choosing cosmetics for conscious hair care, check their compositions and compare them with the table (we recommend downloading it to your phone). Try to balance the products and treatments used so as not to overdo it in any direction. Remember that in hair care, excess and deficiency are equally bad.
Conscious hair care: a must-have in your cosmetic bag
Hair care is based on a reliable duo: shampoo + conditioner or mask. Other cosmetics? Well, you can skip it. Your hair and wallet will breathe easier. Check out how to choose the right products for hair care.Hair care and choosing the right shampoo
Do you already know what kind of hair nature has given you? It's time to move on to the next stage of initiation into the secrets of hair care, i.e. choosing the right cosmetics. First, shampoo, a basic hair care product that we use even several times a week. That is why a shampoo for hair care must be well selected. When choosing, be guided by the type and porosity of your hair (more and more manufacturers provide information about porosity on the packaging). Be sure to check the INCI composition - some cleansing ingredients (e.g. SLS) and fragrances (e.g. Limonene) sensitize and irritate the scalp. An allergic reaction to shampoo can lead to unpleasant itching, flaking of the scalp, and in some cases, greasy hair. Also try to avoid heavy silicones in the composition of your shampoo. If you feel that the shampoo is not good for you - change it!Conditioners and masks in conscious hair care - what to pay attention to
Hair care without conditioner or mask would not be hair care. Washing your hair is very important, but nourishing it is even more important. When choosing products of this type, be guided primarily by the type and porosity of your hair, just like when choosing a shampoo. As we mentioned, these two factors determine what your hairstyle looks like and what it needs. To narrow down your search, read the ingredients. Conditioners and masks should also be free of silicones, which often weigh down the hair. The smoothing effect after using them is often a "plugging" of the hair cuticles, not true regeneration. How to avoid bad purchases? Also pay attention to the way you use the conditioner and adapt it to your needs and care habits. Buying cosmetics that you will not use according to the recommendations or not at all is a waste of money and the production of unnecessary waste. You can choose a conditioner for rinsing and leave-in, as well as a washing conditioner that is becoming increasingly popular.Hair accessories you'll love
