Natural Ways to Lighten Your Hair

What if you could “freshen up” your hair a bit for the upcoming summer? If you’re thinking about lightening, you’ve hit the nail on the head: light hair combined with a chocolate tan is a timeless summer look! In this post, we’ll show you how to gently lighten your hair without chemical products. All you need to do is…

…look around the kitchen cabinets

Yes, yes, you heard correctly, because it's in your kitchen that you can find products that help with natural lightening! So, take a little walk and see if you happen to have (and if not, run to the store):

Chamomile

A chamomile rinse is one of the most popular ways to lighten your hair by up to several shades (when used regularly). Simply pour boiling water over chamomile sachets (from 2 to 4, depending on hair length) and wait a few minutes - until the infusion is brewed and the water cools down. Then rinse your hair immediately after washing it, wrap it in a towel, wait about 15-20 minutes and rinse everything off with lukewarm water. Repeat the chamomile ritual as often as you can - preferably after each wash until you achieve the desired effects.

Tip : After many rinses, your hair may be dry. So remember to use moisturizing conditioners and masks. We recommend the moisturizing and regenerating GLOV Hair Harmony mask.

Honey and lemon

How about a natural lightener that “won’t burn” your hair? So prepare honey and lemon! Mix 2 tablespoons of honey with the juice of half a lemon. Apply this mask to your hair and cover with a foil cap. Wrap the whole thing additionally with a towel or a special turban that improves the absorption of masks, e.g. GLOV Hair Wrap . It is best to leave the mask on your head for a few hours, so do it on a day off as part of a home SPA. After that time, wash it off with lukewarm water.

Tip: unlike the chamomile rinse, the honey-lemon mask additionally moisturizes the hair and makes it soft and shiny!

Wine vinegar

Wine vinegar (white or red) is also used in natural hair lightening. How to use it? Simply boil 200 ml of water, then add two tablespoons of vinegar. Wait for the whole thing to cool, wash your hair with shampoo, and then rinse the strands with the resulting mixture.

Cinnamon

Dreaming of delicate blond highlights? Go for cinnamon! Just add a little cinnamon to your standard conditioner. Apply the finished mixture with a comb or brush, such as the GLOV BioBased Brush , so that your new blond strands are even. Then wrap your hair in a foil cap and keep the resulting mask on your hair for at least 2 hours.

Home lightening is not for everyone

Remember that natural hair lightening will not bring spectacular effects in the style of a complete metamorphosis. That is why we recommend it to girls with extremely light brown hair. If you have dark hair and want a big change, opt for hair dyes with a more natural composition. This is also a faster option if, on the other hand, you want an immediate effect - home methods of lightening require regularity and patience. Good luck!
