How to take care of your body and hair during quarantine?

HAIR OILING

Few of us have time for hair oiling in our daily routine. During home quarantine, there's plenty of opportunity for it. You don't have to go to work with damp hair, and staying at home with oil in your hair isn't an issue either. Haven't heard of hair oiling before? This treatment involves applying oil or a blend of oils to the scalp and the entire length of the hair, which is then washed out. Oils can nourish and moisturize the scalp, and when it comes to hair, they protect it along the entire length by coating it with a protective layer. It's important to remember that hair is dead tissue. Their condition is influenced by the state of the scalp and what happens in the hair follicle. To enjoy beautiful and shiny hair, maintain a diet that provides all the necessary nutrients. However, don’t be fooled into thinking that masks or serums can fuse split ends or repair broken hair. Instead, you can protect your hair from moisture loss, hydrate it, and shield it from the outside. This is where oil comes in handy.

Not all hair types respond well to the same oils. Much depends on their porosity. Not sure what that means? Take a hair porosity test. You can choose the entire skincare routine based on your skin's texture.

  • Low-porosity hair They like oils such as coconut oil and palm oil. Cocoa butter and mango butter also work well.
  • Medium porosity hair They will love olive oil, avocado oil, plum seed oil (which has a beautiful marzipan scent), sweet almond oil, as well as sunflower, sesame, castor, or hazelnut oil.
  • High-porosity hair They will feel well cared for with sunflower oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, pumpkin seed oil, evening primrose oil, grape seed oil, or evening primrose oil.

The oiling process should begin with washing the hair.

Skip applying conditioner or any hair tonics, just thoroughly cleanse the strands and scalp, then gently dry (preferably with the help of HAIR WRAP). On damp hair, apply the chosen oil strand by strand, also massaging it into the scalp. Be careful with the amount; the hair should be oiled but not dripping with grease. A light plastic brush will help you spread the oil. Tie your hair in a bun or braid and leave it oiled overnight. Some girls like to put a towel on the pillow to avoid staining the pillowcase or wear our hair turban overnight (yes, we're talking about it again). Hair Wrap ;)) In the morning, wash your hair twice with a gentle shampoo to remove the oil without stripping away the entire protective layer it created on your hair. After this treatment, you should notice increased hair elasticity and enhanced shine. If you like oiling, try this practice once or twice a week. You can also create your own oil blends once you identify which oils work best with your hair.

PEELING

Regular exfoliation is a very important part of body care. The skin becomes radiant, firmer, more toned, better absorbs the nutrients from the cosmetics we apply, gains moisture, and its tone becomes more even. When we remove dead skin cells, we also reduce the risk of clogged pores, which is why it's worth using a scrub on both the face and the entire body. Today, we'll share some tips on how to do it.

DRY BODY BRUSHING

One of the beauty rituals can be dry body brushingThe face can also be brushed and massaged. A contraindication for this treatment is sensitive skin with fragile capillaries. If you have very sensitive skin, this treatment is not for you — it can cause broken capillaries. In any other case, brushing offers many benefits — it gently polishes the skin, removes dead skin cells, stimulates microcirculation, and activates lymph flow. This type of massage is relaxing and may reduce cellulite. The skin becomes firmer and more toned. It's important to choose a brush with the right softness for you. Many people already have a dry brushing brush at home but quickly gave up on the practice. If you're one of them, it might be worth giving this method another try. You'll see results quite quickly. If you don't have a brush, you can order one online. You can choose between brushes made from animal hair (e.g., horsehair, which is soft, or very stiff boar bristles) or plant-based materials. Brushes with plant-based bristles are usually stiffer and firmer. A separate brush with softer bristles is needed for the face.

Brush your teeth every morning before showering.

Start with the soles of your feet and brush upwards along the body with sweeping strokes. You can brush your buttocks, stomach, or thighs using circular strokes. Always brush the body towards the heart. Don't neglect your elbows, hands, and arms, and if you have a household member nearby, ask them to brush your neck and shoulders as well — this kind of massage will help relieve tension — especially if you work from home at a computer, where your workspace might be less ergonomic than an office setup. You can brush your skin every 2-3 days. Afterward, jump in the shower and rinse off the dead skin cells. Remember to regularly wash the brush under warm water. If it's made of raw wood, you can oil it with cooking oil.

SKIN SMOOTHING EXFOLIATING BODY GLOVE

Although dry brushing delivers great results, it takes more time and not everyone feels like doing it. If you prefer a daily scrub and want to combine it with a quick shower, it's better to choose a glove. GLOV SKIN SMOOTHINGWe designed it to fit well on both the right and left hand. You can use it with your favorite shower gel or just water. It has anti-cellulite effects, improves blood circulation, and firms the body. In our opinion, size doesn't matter, but we feel good in our skin when it is smooth and glowing. Skin Smoothing also perfectly prepares the skin for the application of a tanning cream or self-tanner. It looks like we'll be staying at home until May, so a fake tan might be in demand (it always lifts our spirits). You'll see the first effects of skin tightening after the very first use, and after thirty days, your skin will be completely transformed. Skin Smoothing is also much gentler than body brushes. We made it from antibacterial and antifungal bamboo fibers, making it easy to keep clean.

COFFEE SCRUB

Coffee scrub is a top hit among handmade body care products. If you're a coffee lover, you definitely should try it, because besides its effectiveness, it also has a zero waste aspect. You need coffee grounds from previously brewed coffee. Mix them with oil or baby oil. Coconut oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, and avocado oil work great, but if you use body oil, that will work too. You can also use shower gel, although in our experience, oils work much better in this scrub. Mix the coffee with the oil until you get a thick paste. You can add a little honey or sugar (they have moisturizing properties) and a few drops of essential oil (orange, rosewood, grapefruit — they all blend wonderfully). Coffee scrub Best used immediately or within 2-3 days. Store it in a sealed jar. Apply to wet body skin (it may be too strong for use on the face) and massage, massage, massage! The skin afterwards is perfectly hydrated and firmer. However, the coffee oil scrub is not a good base for self-tanner or lotion, as the skin is coated with oil, which limits the absorption of cosmetics. The coffee scrub is amazing, but a big downside is the terribly messy bathroom.

SUGAR SCRUB FOR FACE AND SCALP

Sugar can accelerate skin aging, so a high-sugar diet has more drawbacks than just causing weight gain. Interestingly, sugar used externally works quite differently on the skin. Regular white sugar has moisturizing properties for both skin and hair. The fine sugar granules have exfoliating properties—choose whether you prefer fine or coarse sugar. Sugar is non-allergenic and dissolves in warm water, so it definitely won’t remain along the hairline and is easier to rinse out of your hair than store-bought scrubs used on the scalp. How to make a sugar scrub? It's incredibly simple. Mix white or cane sugar with your favorite facial gel, or shampoo if you plan to make a scrub for your scalp. Besides its moisturizing properties, sugar easily binds with the keratin in hair. Thanks to the sugar scrub, hair becomes soft, shiny, and split ends are less likely to form. A scalp scrub helps remove buildup from styling products and conditioners, which can clog hair follicles and pores, slowing hair growth or causing hair loss.

HAND CARE

Do you also find yourself washing your hands much more often now and using hand sanitizers? If so, it’s no surprise when your skin becomes dry, red, and itchy. Early signs of eczema may also appear. Cracked skin on the hands affects all of us due to increased hygiene during the ongoing epidemic. It’s important not to skip handwashing, but it’s also helpful to know how to ease the effects of excessive hygiene. Every hand soap is effective; what matters is washing your hands for the right amount of time (30 seconds) and rinsing with warm water. Alcohol-based antibacterial gels dry out the skin significantly, so their use should be limited whenever possible. After each hand wash, apply cream to your hands. Even if you have previously liked richly scented and thick creams, now lighter, fast-absorbing, and fragrance-free ones will work better. Ask for one at your pharmacy or use those you already have at home. At night, you can apply a thicker layer of a more nourishing cream, or even mix it with olive oil, raspberry seed oil, or plum oil. For the best regeneration effect, apply cotton gloves over your moisturized hands.
