Natural face and skin care - skincare diet trend

Posted by Joanna on

Minimalist skincare is a fledgling trend that was started by Korean women, lovers of a precise, 10-step facial care routine. A paradox? Maybe, but it was Korean girls who were among the first to notice (and start talking about it loudly) that skin “overfed” with cosmetics starts to rebel. This rebellion manifests itself in irritation, redness, dry patches, and even mild skin allergies. It turns out that too much of anything is really unhealthy. The feelings of Korean women and girls from other corners of the world who follow them have begun to be confirmed by world dermatologists and skin care specialists. They have also noticed that skin “overfed” with various nutrients reacts in a negative way.
"We started putting so many layers of different cosmetics on our skin that we caused it to become red, sensitive, and even contact dermatitis."
- explains Liah Yoo, owner of the cosmetic brand Krave Beauty and a New York YouTuber, about whom we wrote in the previous text explaining what the skincare diet trend is. We already know that for the good of our skin we should send it for a cosmetic detox. Today, we will tell you how to do it and what cosmetics to use during such a detox. Less is not necessarily better - it is also worth knowing how.

Natural facial care - let's start with the basics.

When starting your adventure with minimalist care, arm yourself with the right tools - in this case, invest in good, most natural cosmetics. Popular drugstore cosmetics, unfortunately, also contain a lot of preservatives and substances that you should keep as far away from your skin as possible. Return to the basics and engage in the whole process 100%. If you limit the amount of cosmetics you use, also limit their composition. You will get the most out of the skincare diet trend when you also base your detox on natural cosmetics. They largely consist of skin-friendly nutrients of natural origin. Warning! Natural cosmetics can also irritate you. The key to success is to carefully match the composition to the needs of your skin.

Match your cosmetics to your skin type.

Your facial skin is like a canvas – it will absorb whatever you cover it with. Let them be the best quality, natural and ecological substances that will nourish it and give it a wonderful glow. Natural cosmetics have a high concentration of organic, ecological and plant-based ingredients. Choose those that meet the needs of your skin. Katarzyna and Piotr are the owners of the cosmetic brand Makutu , which will interest all advocates of natural care in the skincare diet trend.
"Makutu is a cosmetics factory created to enjoy life close to nature. It is a combination of a chemical laboratory and a herbal workshop."
- we read on the brand's website. Its owners create cosmetics tailored to the unique needs of their customers. Each cosmetic, like its future owner, is different. Katarzyna and Piotr are also great advocates of minimalist care. On their blog, they convince that our skin:
"it requires similar care everywhere. The most important thing is to give it the opportunity to function normally, not to apply a centimeter layer of heavy creams, not to use twelve different treatments. It is enough to wash it well (wisely, maintaining the right pH) and take care of good hydration, and the skin, like every organ of ours, will regenerate itself. Let's not disturb it with excessive care."
Makutu will prepare a cosmetic tailored to our individual needs. They will start by determining your skin type. Such a conversation should take place live in their studio or via Skype (obviously, not all of us live in Wrocław). During this 2-hour consultation, you will talk about your skin, its needs, your skincare rituals and the cosmetics you have used so far. On this basis, Makutu will create your own, unique skincare cosmetic. The Ilua brand also invites you to the world of nature without additives, naked like our skin - a manufacturer of 100% natural face and body care cosmetics , which are based on plant substances from all over the world. African marula oil is a strong antioxidant with a high content of vitamin C, Siberian blackberry stimulates blood circulation and protects against radiation, and witch hazel extract from the eastern states of the USA and Canada accelerates the skin regeneration process, effectively rejuvenating it. This is just a small selection of the plant substances that the owners of the Ilua brand work with. You can choose a cosmetic from a ready-made offer or ask for a composition designed especially for you. For girls who like to create their own care potions, we have another suggestion. Zrób Sobie Krem is an online store full of raw materials, ingredients and recipes on how to prepare your own fully natural face or body care cosmetic in the privacy of your own bathroom. On zrobsobiekrem.pl you will find plant extracts, hydrolates, cold-pressed oils, hydroxy acids, peptides and many other ingredients from which you will conjure up face creams, masks, soaps and body lotions, the composition of which will be decided only by you! And all this in the skincare diet trend, because you will give your skin only the nutrients it needs.

Natural hair and body care - what and how?

Skin covers not only our face. We also “overfeed” our body and scalp. Shower gels, scrubs, body lotions, shampoos and hair conditioners that we buy in chain drugstores can have harmful side effects. Highly foaming shower gels only seemingly moisturize the epidermis - unfortunately, they can also dry it out a lot. Many popular body lotions are actually a chemical cocktail that, instead of moisturizing, dries the skin, although it seems to us that we are applying a velvety milk with a wonderful fruit scent. Beautifully scented hair shampoos coat our hair follicles with silicones, weakening their health and natural growth. So what should we be guided by when choosing cosmetics for body and hair care? Let's start with analyzing the composition. If on the back of a beautiful package you see the names paraffinum liquidum, PEG, PPG, dimethicone, cycloemthicone and other similar-sounding words, we suggest that you leave it on the drugstore shelf. A good, nourishing body lotion should be based on vegetable oils, such as jojoba oil, macadamia oil, coconut oil, almond oil or shea butter . This is a great cosmetic base, which should then be supplemented with an ingredient that meets a specific need of the body's skin. If the skin needs firming - the lotion may contain red orange extract . If the skin is irritated and requires regeneration - choose aloe vera . Are you looking for a lotion that will lubricate, moisturize and smooth your skin? Look for a cosmetic with vitamin E or goji berry extract. Are you worried about the condition of your hair and scalp? Before you go to a trichologist, check the cosmetics you use for washing and care. Many shampoos, conditioners and hair masks contain silicones, i.e. silicon or quartz compounds. These are odorless and colorless substances that perfectly smooth the hair cuticle, thanks to which after drying our surface is smooth and shiny. Those with dry, frizzy and electrified hair will appreciate their smoothing effect. However, silicones also have their dark side. Because they protect the hair cuticles so well from harmful substances penetrating the interior, they do not allow nutrients to get inside. Silicone creates a cuticle on the hair that is very difficult to wash off. It sticks to the hair in a way, weighing down its bulb at the same time. Hair overloaded with silicones becomes weak, flat and may start to become excessively greasy. Silicones will help you wash off delicate micellar shampoos. They were created with the intention of cleansing overloaded, overstyled hair. They do not contain silicones, dyes or parabens. For example, the Polish brand Barwa has a hypoallergenic micellar shampoo in its offer. The manufacturer claims that its micellar shampoo with flax extract contains 97% natural ingredients (the remaining 3% are substances necessary to maintain the durability of the formula), has been dermatologically tested for atopic dermatitis, is fully vegan and not tested on animals.

Natural newborn care - give your baby the healthiest things from the first days of life

As a rule, we believe that manufacturers of cosmetics for children and newborns give us an excellent product that will not irritate our baby's skin. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. The perfect anti-example here may be popular, drugstore washing oils, which contain paraffin oil derived from petroleum. Scientists have been arguing for years about its effect on the skin (not only of children), so consumers have the right to wonder about the choice of cosmetics containing it. In the spirit of the skincare diet trend, we suggest leaving such cosmetics alone on their drugstore shelves. When taking care of your child's skin, it is also worth being guided by minimalist care and opting for a smaller amount of cosmetics, but those of much better quality. Pay attention to the Babydream line , which you can get at Rossmann. These are cosmetics, both for pregnant women and for babies, that do not contain mineral and paraffin oils, dyes and preservatives. They are filled with natural ingredients, such as almond oil or jojoba oil, and you won't spend all your savings on them. Don't forget about the possibility of taking care of your baby's hygiene with just water - the GLOV Kids Happy Cleaning Set gloves have a positive opinion from the Institute of Mother and Child and will not irritate delicate, children's skin.
