The number of brushes available in stores can be overwhelming and make makeup seem like a very complicated process. Types of Makeup Brushes

Thanks to brushes, you apply cosmetics with greater precision than when using your own fingers. It is also a more hygienic method (assuming that makeup brushes They are kept clean, and at the same time pleasant to use, as such an applicator gently massages the face. You can choose brushes for every type of makeup: for eyes, lips, and face, with different kinds available depending on the cosmetic product and makeup technique you want to use. Before incorporating brushes into your daily makeup routine, get to know them better and select those that will be useful for you. We distinguish:

  • powder brush – one of the most versatile brushes, used for applying powder, blush, or highlighter. Anyone starting their makeup journey should definitely have one, and we highly recommend the kabuki powder brush. GLOV Kabuki Makeup Brush | GLOV Kabuki These brushes are inspired by traditional Japanese theatrical makeup. They have densely packed bristles and can be used to apply, for example, loose powder or powder highlighter on the face and body;
  • blush brush – resembles a powder brush but has a slightly smaller circumference, allowing you to apply blush with greater intensity than powder on a smaller area of the face;
  • A tapered brush for applying foundation, but it can also be used to finish the makeup base with bronzer or highlighter. It's easier to blend products along the jawline with this brush than with a powder brush;
  • Contour brush – for defining facial lines, we have a special brush, preferably angled, as this shape allows the application to follow natural curves;
  • fan brush – extremely useful for beginners because it helps remove mistakes. The fan shape works a bit like a broom. For example, if eye makeup falls onto half of the face, the fan brush helps remove excess, such as eyeshadow. This type of brush also helps to diffuse applied makeup;
  • universal eyeshadow brush – good for beginners, small and usually quite sturdy, helps apply eyeshadow to the eye;
  • blending brush – useful for applying eyeshadow in varying intensities and smoothly blending the colors together;
  • blending brush – if you want to create a contrasting combination or add depth to your eye, reach for this applicator, which you will use to press the eyeshadow particles to achieve the desired effect;
  • eyeliner brushes – a precise applicator that helps create the "frame" for the eye. Useful for achieving the cat eye look.
  • lip brushes – versatile for applying lipstick and contouring brush – flat and angled. They will be your favorite everyday accessories.

So you see, despite the wide variety of brushes, just two or three are enough to start with, depending on the makeup you're doing. In our opinion, the most useful ones to begin with are universal kabuki and a set of eye brushes. Using them will make applying powder, foundation, and blush easier, and the eye brush set can be used both for a classic, simple application of a single eyeshadow to define the eye, as well as for experimenting with more complex techniques, such as this year’s very trendy Rainbrows, which is a rainbow-colored eyebrow highlight. Moreover, the eye brush set can just as well be used to apply lip products. Keep this handy! Besides a brush, a sponge is useful for precise makeup application. Mango Sponge Makeup Sponge helps to evenly apply cosmetics to hard-to-reach areas like the sides of the nose or the corners of the eyes. Importantly, it does not absorb water and is hypoallergenic. Together with the brush, it creates the perfect duo of assistants for your daily makeup routine!

How to Clean Makeup Brushes

When you start using brushes, you should also have basic knowledge of how to maintain them, because without cleaning they can wear out faster, not to mention that without it you expose your skin to applying various contaminants along with cosmetics. Take care of your brushes by cleaning them—brushes used for liquid cosmetics should be cleaned after each use, while those used for powder cosmetics can be cleaned every 2 to 3 days. You can wash them with makeup removers, but one of the best cleaning products is one specifically designed for this purpose. Glov soap. Removes impurities very thoroughly and leaves a beautiful, refreshing scent on the brushes. It's important how you store your brushes. High-quality ones come in special cases or pouches; for example, the Glov Kabuki makeup brush comes in an eco-friendly cotton pouch with decorative drawstrings, made from recycled materials. Besides protecting the delicate bristles, it also looks great!

Good to know! Using a brush will allow you to use cosmetics economically. Before applying powder, blush, or bronzer with a liquid formula, dip the brush in warm water, then gently squeeze out the excess using a paper towel. This way, the brush won’t absorb the product, and you’ll apply exactly the amount you want.
