On August 5, Gdynia became the Polish capital of ecological innovation. All thanks to the extraordinary Eco Baltic Sea Event - the culmination of the GLOV project implemented in cooperation with VIVE Innovation and the SEPHORA brand. A project whose effects - ecological benches from the recycling of used GLOV products you can find on one of Gdynia's boulevards.

A yacht cruise combined with workshops on water protection, a screening of the film “Our Place on Earth” as part of the BNP Paribas Summer Cinema Sopot - Zakopane and finally the unveiling of ecological benches are the key points of the Eco Baltic Sea Event program. As Ewa, one of the co-founders of GLOV, said, the event was a natural consequence of the vision and goals that have guided the brand since its inception. “ Our ambitions go further than reusable makeup removal products. We would like our company’s production to be as environmentally friendly as possible. That is why we are looking for solutions that will allow us to close the production cycle and reduce waste generation to a minimum, and preferably to zero. Hence the idea of cooperation with VIVE. ” - comments Ewa Dudzic, Co-Founder GLOV.

Second Life for Fabrics: Upcycling T-shirts at Eco Baltic Sea Event
The event started before noon on the Sopot Pier. A nice surprise awaited the participants: upcycled T-shirts, prepared by our team, with the support of an extremely talented seamstress.

Repurposing used white T-shirts in various styles was fantastic fun. Some of us didn't know we had such creative resources. We used fabric paints and offcuts from production waste to give the T-shirts a second life. We decorated them with ecological slogans referring to the slogan: REUSE, REMAKE, RECYCLE.

Eco Baltic Sea Event: a cleansing cruise, or cleaning the coast
Straight from the Sopot marina we set off on a yacht cruise, combined with workshops entitled “How can I protect the Baltic Sea?”. One of the elements of the workshops was catching rubbish from the Tri-City bay. Despite the lack of experience, wind and increased waves, we collected several bags of waste.

We have fished out water bottles, takeaway food packaging and other plastic items that should not have ended up in the water. It would seem that we all know this. Unfortunately, reality has shown that this is not the case. That is why we would like to remind you: clean up after yourself, wherever you spend your time! Beaches, forests, meadows are not landfills.

The third life of fabrics - it's possible
The cruise ended in Gdynia, where the rest of the program took place, including the most important part: the unveiling of ecological benches made from used GLOV products.

“ The production of 1 bench reduced the consumption of 4,000,000 disposable cotton pads and 18,000 plastic bottles, and thousands of used GLOV products were not sent to landfills. We are satisfied with the results of the cooperation and we know which direction to go to implement our plans,” comments Ewa Dudzic.

Prof. Jan Marcin Węsławski from the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences appeared at the unveiling of the benches. Mr. Jan told us about the state of the Baltic Sea. Thanks to him, we learned what we can do to not contribute to further pollution of our only sea. We were also honored by the presence of the vice-president of the city of Gdynia, Ms. Katarzyna Gruszecka-Spychała. Our project delighted her to such an extent that Gdynia may get involved in the process of creating more benches.
